While nearly identical, the key differences are:
1) Therapy is essential for those facing active, debilitating mental health challenges. Coaching, on the other hand, is ideal for individuals without major mental health issues who seek personal development.
2) Whether you work with a coach or therapist, you’ll be the driving force in your journey, engaging deeply with your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. However, coaching is more directive, with the coach leading the process. As your coach, I will assess areas for growth, create a clear plan, and guide you through steps to achieve the specific goals you set. -
IFS is an experiential personal development model that doesn’t just try to persuade or motivate change through reason. Instead, it immerses you in a deep, present-moment exploration of how your inner landscape - thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, beliefs, and memories - directly shapes your life. Using leading-edge, neuroscience-based techniques, IFS helps you recalibrate your inner world for optimal functioning and well-being.
The first few minutes of a session are for you to update your coach on your progress and challenges. After that, I'll help you identify a specific emotion, behavior, or “part” of your personality to understand and manage. You’ll then close your eyes to invite bodily sensations and mental imagery. We’ll spend the rest of the session helping you: a) Get to know that aspect of your personality more; b) Uncover its purpose and function in your life; c) Explore its history and its protective function; and d) Transform it into a powerful asset rather than a barrier to your life's journey. -
An Internal Family Systems coach effectively targets the specific emotions or behaviors that clients want to transform. For most clients, achieving meaningful change typically requires at least eight to ten focused sessions on a particular emotion or behavior. To ensure this transformative process, I recommend a commitment of at least two to three months to reach your goals. For those with multiple concerns, extended coaching periods are encouraged.
One of the greatest strengths of IFS is its ability to establish specific, measurable goals right from the start.

While I don't directly offer psychedelic therapy, I have specialized training in the field and have supported numerous clients in integrating and enhancing their healing experiences from previous psychedelic therapy. The IFS model complements psychedelic healing exceptionally well. Both IFS and psychedelic therapy trigger heightened self-awareness, uncovering profound insights that promote inner healing and life expansion.

IFS is a powerful tool for personal transformation, focusing directly on what matters most - shifting problematic behaviors and enhancing strengths. Professional therapists recognize that IFS parts work often delivers prompt results, saving both time and money. They also know that true change happens when you boldly confront your challenges. Unlike other approaches that allow you to sidestep issues, IFS fosters swift change by guiding clients to work directly on what matters most.
That said, it may not be for everyone. The coaching and therapy world offers many effective approaches, and ultimately, individuals benefit most from a method that aligns with their unique needs.
